Public Policy Communications Specialist

NHF is seeking a Public Policy Communications Specialist (Southeast). The Public Policy Communications Specialist reports to the Senior Public Policy Analyst and is the liaison to the Marketing and Communications Department regarding healthcare public policy and related communications matters. This position is responsible for tracking and analyzing legislative and administrative healthcare-related actions that may impact the bleeding disorders community in all 50 states using online tracking technology, as well as presenting and providing training on healthcare public policy issues and their impact on the bleeding disorders community as needed.

Please note that this is a remote position with the ability to work from home but applicant must reside in the Southern U.S. You must be able to conduct occasional work evenings and week-ends for meetings and events and travel approximately 1-3 times per month.

Qualifications: 
  • B.S. in political or a related social science, communications or a related area.  J.D. or M.P.A. preferred
  • Must have prior healthcare public policy experience.
  • Must have a minimum of three years’ experience working for the state or federal government in a public policy role. Prior grassroots advocacy experience is preferred.
  • Must have experience in and a comfort with public speaking.
  • Must have experience in communicating with elected officials, high-level government agency/private sector personnel, and general constituencies.
  • Must have strong understanding of, and experience with, legislative tracking.
  • Must have experience with HTML/CSS and photo editing skills to create web pages and HTML emails.
  • Must have knowledge of email marketing and advocacy applications/tools.
  • Must have facility with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills; excellent attention to detail.
