Payer Webinars

The National Hemophilia Foundation has established itself as a resource for payers wanting to learn more about hemophilia and related bleeding disorders.  Since 2010, NHF has partnered with the Specialty Health Benefits Council (SHBC; formerly the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Society), Impact Education, LLC, and Medical Education Resources to develop a series of webinars intended for payer executives.  The primary objective of the webinars is to explore how health plans and hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs) can better work together to deliver high-quality care and manage costs associated with hemophilia. Collectively more than 1300 individuals have participated in these series.  The program is certified for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and case managers.

The 2014 webinar series, Challenges and Opportunities for Managing Hemophilia, begins on May 5, 2014 and includes three learning tracks:

  • Clinical Overview
  • Care Management Strategies
  • Access, Coverage, and Care Issues.

Participants can earn up to 4.5 credits by participating in all three tracks. Get complete accreditation information and register for the 2014 series.

Enduring web archives from past webinar series and a CE-certified journal article published in the American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits in October 2011, are also available by visiting the Partners in Bleeding Disorders Education or SHBC websites.

In addition to the payer education webinar series, NHF has partnered with Impact Education, LLC to develop and deliver two (2) live symposia and launch a Web portal, ManagedCareHemo.com, devoted to continuing education in hemophilia management for managed care professionals. The Web portal includes CE-certified modules, interactive case studies, event listings, and important resources.  These activities are supported by an educational grant from Novo Nordisk Inc.
