“Education Advantage Scholarship Program”, sponsored by Baxter Healthcare Corporation
Amount: Various awards ranging from $150 to $15,000/year; Renewable.
Candidate: Individuals with hemophilia A attending university, technical school or passing GED test.  (Submissions for GED assistance may be on a rolling basis.)

Beth Carew Memorial Scholarship Program
Amount: Total number of awards can vary each year (may be up to 20, $4,000 college awards)
Candidate: Must be an individual diagnosed with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease or other inherited bleeding disorder and either entering or attending an accredited 2- or 4-year undergraduate institution in the US.  High school seniors, undergrad freshmen, sophomores and juniors may also apply.  Students who are pursuing or resuming an undergrad degree later in adulthood may apply if there was a gap in their academic career.  Applicants will also need to show volunteer time spent directly benefitting the bleeding disorders community.

Candidates: Men with hemophilia or VWD or an immediate family member. Applicant must be a US resident and entering or attending a junior college, four-year college, university, or vocational school in Fall 2014.

Hemophilia Federation of America
Amount:  Ten, $1,500 awards in total: seven general educational scholarships; one “Sibling Continuing Educational Scholarship”; one “Parent Continuing Educational Scholarship” and one “Artistic Encouragement Grant.”
Candidates: Person with hemophilia or VWD, including parents and siblings attending any accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school in the US. Also includes an award for completing a visual/performing art project.

BioRx/Hemophilia of North Carolina Educational Scholarship Program
Amount: Four scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000
Candidate: Intended for individuals who are diagnosed with hemophilia, VWD or other bleeding-associated factor deficiency, or their siblings, parents or caregivers living within the same household. At least one scholarship is awarded to an applicant pursuing education in a health-related field from an accredited college or university or certified training program.

“Education is Power” Scholarship
Amount:  A minimum of 20 scholarships will be awarded, ranging in value from $500-$2,500.
Candidate: Individuals living with hemophilia or von Willebrand disease and attending a community college, junior college, four-year college, university, or vocational school.  Must also be a U. resident.

The Doreen McMullan McCarthy Memorial Academic Scholarship for Women with Bleeding Disorders
Amount: $2,500 award
Candidate: Applicants must be female residents of the U.S. and have a diagnosed bleeding or clotting disorder. *Note: this includes those with a diagnosis of von Willebrand disease, hemophilia, platelet disorder, or other factor deficiency, carrier status or clotting disorder.

Biogen Idec Hemophilia Scholarship Program
Amount: Individual awards ranging from $2,500-$7,000. In 2013, a total of $50,000 was awarded to 11 recipients with hemophilia and with diverse educational goals.  Biogen Idec is honored to continue its support of the community’s dreams in 2014 by planning to once again donate a total of $50,000 to multiple winners.
Candidate: Individuals with hemophilia A or B who are pursuing a vocational or technical certificate, a 2- or 4-year degree program, or graduate degree are encouraged to apply.  *Please visit Website to review program criteria and guidelines for application.

Pfizer Soozie Courter Hemophilia Scholarship Program
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants with hemophilia A or hemophilia B who present the best combination of a creative and persuasive essay, excellent recommendations, and superior academic standing.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, Pfizer will award:

  • Five $4,000 graduate scholarships
  • Ten $2,500 college scholarships, including vocational schools

To be eligible, you must:

Have been diagnosed with hemophilia A or hemophilia B, be a U.S. resident attending a school in the U.S. and meet one of the following educational criteria:

  • Be a high school senior or graduate, or
  • Have completed high school or an equivalent (e.g., general equivalency diploma [GED]), or
  • Be currently accepted to or enrolled in a junior college, college (undergraduate or graduate), or vocational school

Submit a completed application and appropriate materials in time for the mailing deadline June 18, 2014.

Josh Gordy Educational Scholarship

Josh Gordy is an American football cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL).  Josh created these educational scholarships in honor of his nephew, Nolan, who has severe hemophilia A.
