Awards of Distinction and Excellence

Each year at the Annual Meeting, the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) acknowledges individuals with Awards of Excellence and chapters with Awards of Distinction.

 

Awards of Excellence

The Awards of Excellence recognize remarkable and distinguished individuals in the bleeding disorders community. These individuals are awarded during the Awards Ceremony at the Annual Meeting where a short film (2-3 minutes) is presented. The awards in this category include:

  • Genetic Counselor
  • Physician of the Year
  • Researcher of the Year (named in honor of Dr. Murray Thelin)
  • Advocate of the Year (named in honor of Joseph Early and Dr. L. Michael Kuhn)
  • Nurse of the Year
  • Physical Therapist of the Year (named in honor of Donna Boone, PT)
  • Social Worker of the Year (named in honor of Jill Solomon)
  • Lifetime Achievement (named in honor of Dick James)
  • Humanitarian of the Year (named in honor of Mary M. Gooley)
  • Volunteer of the Year (named in honor of Robert Lee Henry)
  • Meritorious Service Award (named in honor of Ryan White and Loras Goedken)
  • Loras Goedken Outstanding Leadership (Service) Award
  • Chapter Recognition Award

Awards of Distinction

The Awards of Distinction recognize chapters with outstanding programs in:

  • Health Education
  • Outreach
  • Communications
  • Collaboration

Each chapter receiving an award will be given a $1,000 incentive to enhance their program. All programs must be chapter based.
