New NHF Publication on Nosebleeds Now Available

The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) has created a new publication on nosebleeds to address the pervasive, exasperating and, in some cases, serious symptom for people with bleeding disorders. "Nosebleeds," was developed by members of NHF’s Nursing Working Group and the Canadian Association of Nurses in Hemophilia Care. The brochure includes explanations of the causes of nosebleeds, techniques to stem bleeding, guidelines for when medical attention may be necessary and practical prevention tips.

The brochure was a collaborative effort, involving two U.S. nurses, Jim Munn, RN, MS, and Susan C. Zappa, RN, CPN, CPON, and two Canadian nurses, Deb Gue, RN, MSN, and Sherry L. Purcell, RN. All have firsthand experience treating bleeding disorders patients with nosebleeds.

To request a single, complimentary copy, contact HANDI, NHF’s information resource center, at 800.42.HANDI or handi@hemophilia.org. The bulk order price for more than one copy of "Nosebleeds" is $1.20 for NHF members and $1.60 for nonmembers. Bulk orders may be placed by phone or by downloading an order form from the NHF Web site and faxing it to 212.328.3799.
