The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) has created a new publication on nosebleeds to address the pervasive, exasperating and, in some cases, serious symptom for people with bleeding disorders. "Nosebleeds," was developed by members of NHF’s Nursing Working Group and the Canadian Association of Nurses in Hemophilia Care. The brochure includes explanations of the causes of nosebleeds, techniques to stem bleeding, guidelines for when medical attention may be necessary and practical prevention tips.
The brochure was a collaborative effort, involving two U.S. nurses, Jim Munn, RN, MS, and Susan C. Zappa, RN, CPN, CPON, and two Canadian nurses, Deb Gue, RN, MSN, and Sherry L. Purcell, RN. All have firsthand experience treating bleeding disorders patients with nosebleeds.
