The First Step Task Force, along with NHF’s Education Department, is currently revamping the First Step program. Val Bias, NHF CEO, is working diligently to secure funding for the next phase.
As a result, First Step grants have been temporarily put on hold. Our hope is that chapters will continue to provide support, education and social networking opportunities for families of newly diagnosed children.
Through our ACT program, we have set aside some funds for chapters that may not be able to continue programming. If your program is in jeopardy, please document your needs in a brief letter identifying your program and the amount of money needed.
To apply for funding, please e-mail your letter to Alyssa Strauss, NHF Manager of Education: astrauss@hemophilia.org, by Friday, April 10, 2009. For further information, you can call her at: 212.328.3744.
