The National Hemophilia Foundation is pleased to announce the success of its 2009 walk initiative, its second year running the program. The walks attracted 6,000 walkers representing 400 teams. As of December 1, 2009, more than $1,235,000 was raised from national sponsorships, local business support and individual donations.
Walks were held in city and county parks, in athletic stadiums and on college campuses. No matter the weather—and some sites experienced high winds or drizzle—community spirit and enthusiasm could not be dampened.
NHF’s Hemophilia Walk is a nationwide event that raises funds and awareness of hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Participants raise money for crucial research, advocacy and education by joining together in a fun and festive event.
NHF thanks its 2009 sponsors for all of their support: Baxter Healthcare, National Presenting Sponsor; Bayer, National Premier Sponsor; Wyeth, now a part of Pfizer, National Supporting Sponsor; Talecris, National Event Sponsor.
