Hemophilia Walks have begun all across the country. Three cities have hosted successful events, with hundreds of participants walking to raise money for their local chapters. Highlights include:
- On April 17, the Hemophilia Foundation of Northern California hosted more than 400 walkers and raised more than $80,000 as a first-year event. Participants strode along the beautiful shoreline in Berkeley and welcomed new members to their chapter.
- The New England Hemophilia Association raised more that $91,000 and enjoyed the participation of 500 walkers in East Walpole, MA, kicking off its first walk. The event was held on Saturday, June 5.
- As a third year walk site, the New York City Hemophilia Chapter welcomed more than 1,000 walkers to its event on Sunday, June 6, in Riverside Park. The chapter raised more than $180,000. Way to go, NYC!
There’s still plenty of time to join the success of these walks. Other ways to help include walking as part of a team, sponsoring a walker or volunteering your time and talents. For more information on how you can get involved in an NHF walk in your area, visit the Walk Web site.
