Vote for NHF to Win a Grant to Fight Obesity

The Get Ingrained Foundation has chosen the National Hemophilia Foundation’s Youth Fit Program (formerly “Team Hemophilia”) as one of its five finalists to win a $15,000 grant. We need YOU to register and vote daily for our program, which will deliver fitness and nutritional education to children at bleeding disorders summer camps in 2011.

Children with chronic illness are at a higher risk for obesity. Many avoid activities and exercise, fearing that they will aggravate their condition. Added weight stresses joints and muscles, contributing to worsening health in our community. Youth Fit plays a crucial role in the lives of children with bleeding disorders by encouraging safe, regular physical activity and providing nutrition information. The program is enhanced by its leaders—young adults with bleeding disorders who have experienced the obstacles faced by the campers they connect with.

In July, Arnold, Brownberry and Orowheat breads announced the inaugural Get Ingrained™ Grants Program. The program will award two $15,000 grants to people or organizations committed to bettering the health of their communities. Starting Monday, October 25, 2010, five finalists were posted on the company’s Web site. You have until Monday, November 29, 2010, to vote daily. Help make NHF’s Youth Fit Program one of the top two winners.
