The 2nd National Conference on Blood Disorders in Public Health will be held at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North in Atlanta, GA, on March 12-14, 2012. The theme of the conference is “From Outcomes to Impact: Addressing Transitional Blocks to Improving the Public’s Health--Disseminating and Improving the Adoption of Effective Preventive Measures and Therapeutic Interventions.” The first conference was held in March 2010.
The goals of the conference are to: present innovative public health strategies to minimize the occurrence and complications of blood disorders, and showcase effective evidence-based public health interventions designed to prevent and/or eliminate blood disorder-related health disparities.
The conference is being co-hosted by the Division of Blood Disorders, National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration; the Division of Blood Diseases and Resources, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the Office of Rare Diseases Research, National Institutes of Health; the American Society of Hematology; and Hemophilia of Georgia. Public health and medical professionals are encouraged to attend.
