NHF Working Group Updates Nurses’ Guide

The Nurses Working Group (NWG) of the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) recently updated chapters on von Willebrand disease, orthopedics and inhibitors, in the Nurses’ Guide to Bleeding Disorders. These changes are part of a significant online revision and expansion of the seminal publication, Hemophilia Nursing Handbook (1995).

NHF acknowledges the considerable time, effort and hard work undertaken by the NWG, individual authors and Carolyn Francis, RN, ANP, a member of the NWG and Nurse Coordinator at Georgetown University Hospital, Lombardi Cancer Center, in Washington, DC.

New chapters include:

Pain, by Michelle Witkop, RN; Angela Lambing, RN;  Rhonda Fritz, RN

Prophylaxis, by Joni Osip, RN, MS; Kerry Hansen, RN, BS

Women with Bleeding Disorders, by Judy Kauffman, RN, MS, CPNP

Introduction to von Willebrand Disease, by Mary Lesh, RN, MS, CPNP

Orthopedic Complications and Treatment, by Susan Geraghty, RN, MBA
Inhibitors to Factor VIII and Factor IX, by Christine Guelcher, PNP

Access these and other chapters on the NHF Web site.
