Hemophilia Walk Season Closes, New Grants for 2014

Thousands of Walkers Made the Difference

Through pouring rain and bright skies, in the early mornings and early afternoons, 12,000 people all across the country walked to support the bleeding disorders community this year!  Thank YOU for making another Hemophilia Walk season a wonderful success.  Walkers, donors, volunteers, and national and local sponsors made it possible to raise more than $2.7 million to support NHF’s mission and to raise awareness about bleeding disorders.

For more information or to find out how you can support the 2014 Walks, please visit the Hemophilia Walk’s comprehensive website: www.hemophilia.org/walk.

NHF is pleased to have Baxter as the National Presenting Sponsor, leading our group of national sponsors, which includes: Pacesetter Sponsor Bayer HealthCare; and Official Sponsors Grifols, Pfizer Hemophilia and Biogen Idec Hemophilia.  Thank you to all of our national and local sponsors for your generous support and commitment.

For more information about the Hemophilia Walks, please contact Kristin Hokoyama, NHF National Development Manager of Special Events: 212.328.3711 or khokoyama@hemophilia.org or Annelice Morales, NHF National Events Coordinator: 212.328.3731 or amorales@hemophilia.org.

New Walk Grants for 2014

NHF is pleased to announce two grants from Baxter Healthcare to support Hemophilia Walk initiatives in 2014.

The Hemophilia Walk Step Up Fund will support a comprehensive assessment of the national Hemophilia Walk program.  Going into its 7th year, NHF realizes the need to move the program to the next level.  The Step Up Fund will address the needs for the national Walk program to have a more strategic view on a national and local level.  NHF will partner with a third-party vendor to conduct this assessment, which will incorporate the feedback of national and local staff.

The Baxter Hemophilia Walk Medical Education Fund will support research fellowships in three areas: nursing, social work and physical therapy.  With every chapter that completes the national Hemophilia Walk, Baxter will contribute up to $150,000, which will go directly to three fellows in the aforementioned disciplines over the next three years.

For more information, please contact Kristin Hokoyama, NHF National Development Manager of Special Events: 212.328.3711 or khokoyama@hemophilia.org.
