Wyeth Pharmaceuticals to Sponsor Training Sessions at NHF On the Road Meetings
New York, NY (March 10, 2006) – The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) has announced the expansion of its First Step “Train-the-Trainer” program in 2006 to include two training sessions, held in conjunction with its “On the Road” meetings. Approximately 14 teams will be trained to conduct local First Step programs. The 2006 trainings will take place in Minneapolis, MN on April 26-27, 2006 and Denver, CO on June 21-22, 2006.
The First Step program helps families with infants or young children that have bleeding disorders. The goal of the program is to reduce or prevent the complications of hemophilia and bleeding disorders in these families. Each team is comprised of representatives from an NHF chapter or association, a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) representative and a parent of a child with a bleeding disorder. The First Step program is conducted in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Teams for the first training session have been selected and include representatives from the Delaware Valley Chapter, Florida Hemophilia Association, Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Florida, Hemophilia Foundation of Minnesota and the Dakotas, Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center and the United Virginia Chapter of NHF.
