The First Step Train-the-Trainer program is a two-day workshop that guides and instructs First Step Teams—composed of a chapter/association representative, a member of the hemophilia treatment center (HTC) and a parent--on how to initiate a First Step program or strengthen an existing one. In this training, participants will review topics and exercises to use during new parent meetings and support groups; understand guidelines and recommendations for implementing a mentoring program for veteran parents; and learn the principles of promoting and coordinating a First Step program.
