NHF’s Train-the-Trainer Program Coming to New Orleans

NHF’s next First Step Train-the-Trainer program will be held April 19-20, 2007 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Enrollment forms are available online and must be submitted by January 15, 2007. Click here to download an enrollment form.

The First Step Train-the-Trainer program is a two-day workshop that guides and instructs First Step Teams—composed of a chapter/association representative, a member of the hemophilia treatment center (HTC) and a parent--on how to initiate a First Step program or strengthen an existing one. In this training, participants will review topics and exercises to use during new parent meetings and support groups; understand guidelines and recommendations for implementing a mentoring program for veteran parents; and learn the principles of promoting and coordinating a First Step program.

For more information, please contact Alyssa Strauss, NHF Manager of Education, at: 212.328.3744 or Sonia Roger, NHF Education Coordinator, at 212.328.3724.

First Step is a National Prevention Program for new parents and families of children newly diagnosed with bleeding disorders. In 2005, the Train-the-Trainer program was established as a training program for First Step teams. Train-the-Trainer is a program partner of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is supported by an educational grant from Wyeth.
