Coalition for Hemophilia B Hosts Spring Symposium in NYC

The Coalition for Hemophilia B, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides information, education and support to consumers with hemophilia B and their families, is hosting a one-day consumer symposium on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City.

Topics to be covered at the symposium are: “What’s New in Hemophilia 2007,” by Dr. Christopher Walsh, MD, Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of the Regional Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center; and “Ensuring Affordable Access to Health Insurance,” by Dana Kuhn, PhD, founder and president of Patient Services, Incorporated (PSI). A family session on anger, worry and acceptance will be conducted by Ron Potter-Efron, PhD, a clinical psychotherapist and author. Michael O’Connor, a 16-year-old competitive swimmer from Long Island who has moderately severe hemophilia B, will talk about athletics and hemophilia.

The symposium runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is free for consumers and their families. It includes a morning buffet, afternoon snack buffet and childcare/age-related activities for children ages two to 15.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, February 28, 2007. The deadline to book a hotel room at the guaranteed rate is Thursday, March 15, 2007.

For more information, contact Kim Phelan, Vice President: 212-554-6898. For an agenda or to register, click here.

The symposium is funded by an unrestricted grant from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. The family session is sponsored by Inalex Communications with a grant from Baxter HealthCare.
