The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) has teamed up with Andretti Green Racing (AGR) and Bayer HealthCare to create Team Hemophilia, a new hemophilia fundraising and awareness campaign, at race tracks across the country. Team Hemophilia is featured in several prominent races throughout the racing season, most notably the 91st running of the Indy 500 on Sunday, May 27, 2007.
Race fans can support the cause by bidding for special race packages at eBay’s online auction site. The VIP package contains exclusive behind-the-scenes AGR hospitality passes, hot pit credentials, pre- and post-race paddock access, and the opportunity to meet AGR drivers. In addition, the Ultimate Indy 500 Race Fantasy package contains round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two guests. All proceeds benefit NHF.
AGR drivers featured include some of the top contenders in IndyCar racing today—Marco Andretti, second place finisher in the 2006 Indy 500 and Rookie of the Year; Danica Patrick, the newest addition to the team and the first woman to lead the Indy 500; Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan. Andretti appeared at NHF’s 58th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia in 2006 for a press conference in which he presented a check for $10,000 to NHF on behalf of AGR and Bayer HealthCare. He also signed autographs and took photographs with NHF race fans.
