The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA), which comprises both the collectors of therapeutic plasma and the manufacturers of plasma-derived and recombinant products, launched a new informational Web site in September 2008. DonatingPlasma.org provides an educational tool for individuals to learn more about plasma donation and the key role of plasma-based therapies in treating chronic diseases, such as primary immunodeficiencies, hemophilia and autoimmune disorders. The site is also designed to increase awareness concerning the importance of plasma donations.
Additional features of the Web site include a plasma donation center search engine, patient stories and donor profiles. Explore http://www.donatingplasma.org/
PPTA is the trade association for the world’s producers of plasma therapies. More than one million patients worldwide use those therapies to treat a variety of diseases.
