Our son Austin was diagnosed with von Willebrand disease at the Navy hospital in Portsmouth, VA. The Navy did a fine job taking care of him, but they didn't really advocate parental involvement and education. Now that we're civilians living near Memphis, I'm learning and joining and getting as involved in his care as possible. While learning more about his care at St. Jude's Children's hospital, I was told about the National Hemphilia Foundation. I joined and am learning more and more each day about funding, research and care.
Thank you so much NHF. Please help me raise at least $5000 for "It's Time for a Cure" through this website. For more information about Austin's condition, please visit von Willebrand disease
As soon as the weather is warmer I will work on a yard sale to raise funds as well, and I will post that here as soon as I've scheduled it. For more information on It's Time for a Cure, please email cure@hemophilia.org, or call Paul Kelly at (212) 328-3722.
Thank you, Chris Schmied
