Preconference Symposia

PHYSICIAN PRECON
Can proteomics improve the diagnosis, prophylaxis, and therapy in hemophilia?

 MD
2:00pm-6:00pm
Moderators: Kenneth Mann, PhD; Ralph Bradshaw, MD
Speakers: N. Leigh Anderson, PhD; Scott Diamond, PhD
Panelists: Donna DiMichele, MD, Gerges-Etienne Rivard, MD, Diane Nugent, MD;
Arthur Thompson, MD, PhD, Gilbert White, MD

The field of proteomics involves the determination of the inventory of protein macromolecules, which defines the phenotypic makeup of a biosystem. The combination of proteomics with bioinformatics further permits the quantitative description of the characteristic dynamics that are governed by expression profiles and protein-protein interactions. Such information can presage how an individual might respond to an environmental, genetic or pharmacologic intervention. This symposium will describe the evolution and current state of these increasingly high-tech fields and their potential applications to genetic diseases with a focus on hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders.
There is an additional registration fee for this session. Please complete the appropriate section of your registration form.
