Patients, families and caregivers reunite at the 2022 Bleeding Disorders Conference

July 12, 2022 - HOUSTON, TEXAS - After two years of coming together virtually, the inheritable blood and bleeding disorders (IBD) community is reuniting in-person and virtually for the National Hemophilia Foundation’s (NHF) 74th annual Bleeding Disorders Conference (BDC) in Houston, Texas.

From August 25 to 27, patients, caregivers, families, health care providers, researchers and advocates will gather at the George R. Brown Convention Center or online to learn about research, advancements, ideas, and experiences pertaining to the IBD community.

The conference will feature expert speakers and cover many topics impacting the community, including gene therapy, sexual health, ultra-rare bleeding disorders, as well as an exciting keynote session from author, actor, and Dancing with the Stars winner J.R. Martinez. In addition to educational sessions, poster abstracts featuring the latest novel research will also be on display, and an exciting Exhibit Hall offers attractions and hands-on demonstrations. Plus, the annual Awards of Excellence ceremony promises to feature touching tributes and inspiring individuals.

For those unable to attend in-person, there’s plenty of ways to experience #NHF2022 virtually! Virtual attendees can enjoy 28 hours of live streamed sessions from the Consumer and Chapter tracks, and an additional 12 hours of selected live streaming sessions from the Provider tracks. (After BDC, in fall of 2022, an enduring program will be offered for providers. More information on this will be available later.)

“BDC is a favorite event of the IBD community for a reason,” said Dr. Len Valentino, CEO of NHF. “No matter where NHF is, it feels like home. Whether you’re in-person or attending online, you don’t want to miss this chance to finally reconnect and reunite with this special community.”

BDC 2022 has a wide variety of activities scheduled each day. The general conference schedule is as follows. A detailed, interactive program can be found at hemophilia.org/bdc.

Visit the BDC 2022 website to register. NHF’s Conference & Travel services have secured discounted lodging at Marriott Marquis and Hilton Americas for conference attendees.
