Online fundraising is an effective way to raise awareness about your cause and give your extended social contacts—friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors--the opportunity to show their support. 100% of the proceeds from the walk will support NHF and its chapters.

NHF has partnered with Active.com to make online fundraising fun, easy and secure. You can fundraise as an individual, join a fundraising team or create your own fundraising team so others can join you in your efforts to raise money for this event.

To get started, simply register with the chapter you would like to walk with and fundraise for and a fundraising page will automatically be created for you.

Once you have registered and your fundraising page has been created, you will be able to customize and share your message with your extended network of friends and family to engage them in your cause. The following are some useful tips to ensure a successful fundraising campaign.

Personalize your Fundraising Page:
In Active, your fundraising Web page is your chance to personalize your message for your family, friends, and other donors. Generally speaking, people contribute to your cause based on the personal message you convey. Therefore, it is important to spend some time customizing your fundraising page. You can:

• include a tailored message
• upload pictures
• choose your own layout and colors
• create your own Web address
• set a goal amount

Send E-mails:
After creating your personalized fundraising Web page, you want to invite your friends and family to visit your page and give them the opportunity to make a donation on your behalf. With your Active account, sending e-mail to people provides an immediate link back to your Web page. They won't have to fill out a form, copy postage information or write a check. They also automatically receive a confirmation e-mail with tax deduction information. Some useful e-mail features available from Active.com include:

• Upload your Address Book from Outlook or a personal Web account such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.
• Create/Edit e-mail templates to avoid creating new messages every time you send e-mail.

Track Online and Offline Donations:
Your Active account helps you keep track of all donations made online through your personalized fundraising page.

For people who’ve made donations on your behalf via check or cash, Active also allows you to enter these amounts so they can be added to your total funds raised and help you reach your goal.

To make a donation by check - If the check is on behalf of an individual participating or fundraising for the walk, please indicate his/her name and the name of the chapter in the Memo area.
