Ethical Decision Making Process

Ethical Decision Making Process

Clarify the ethical situation

Identify all stakeholders and their values

Investigate the circumstances surrounding the ethical dilemma

Discuss all perspectives

Identify best practices/recommendations for self and or group

Share best practices and recommendation statements

Measure behavioral changes over time

Note - above steps do not need to be done in order. They are probably occurring simultaneously. This process is to ensure that each ethical situation is thoroughly examined so that the best conclusion can be make. An analogy would be taking complete patient history over a problem focused history.
