Bayer HealthCare announced last month that beginning in November 2011, Kogenate®FS vial sizes of 250, 500 and 1,000 IU will be accompanied by 2.5ml of diluents in a 5.0 ml syringe, similar to the one currently contained in the 2,000 and 3,000 IU vial size packages. The product now comes with a standard syringe and plunger rod for all vial sizes. According to Bayer, the new syringe has a larger barrel and a slim-line plunger rod for ease of insertion into the barrel.

Kogenate®FS is a recombinant factor VIII therapy indicated for the control and prevention of bleeding episodes and peri-operative management in adults and children (birth-16 years) with hemophilia A. The product is also indicated for routine prophylaxis to reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes and the risk of joint damage in children with hemophilia A with no pre-existing joint damage.
