NHF is thrilled to report that our community’s advocacy efforts during Washington Days, held February 26-28, has led to several additional co-sponsors being added to H.R. 460, the Patients’ Access to Treatments Act of 2013, one of our priority issues during this year’s gathering.  The bill will increase access to life-saving drugs on specialty tiers by prohibiting insurers from imposing exorbitant co-insurance requirements on patients.

Since Washington Days, the following members with whom we met have been added to the bill:

Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA)

Rep. John Carney (D-DE)

Rep. Michael Doyle (D-PA)

Rep. Joseph Heck (R-NV)

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY)

Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA)

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI)

Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH)

There are now 99 members of Congress who have signed onto the bill, the highest number ever!  If you participated in Washington Days and your representative hasn’t yet co-sponsored the bill, please follow up with the office.   Don’t you want your representative to be #100?

Thank you for your continued support and effort. NHF’s public policy team will keep you informed as H.R. 460 moves forward.
