Scholarships

SandsRx Pharmacy is dedicated to supporting patients of the bleeding disorders community in their educational journey. SandsRx Pharmacy has partnered with the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) to administer these scholarships.

SandsRx is awarding (2) educational scholarships to (2) students with a bleeding disorder in Middle School and High School for tuition. Each student will receive (1) scholarship in the amount of $1,500. The award selection is based on several criteria, including but not limited to, academic merit and impact on the bleeding disorder community through volunteer programs.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Applicants are not required to be patients of SandsRx pharmacy, but they must have either Hemophilia A or B diagnosis, or Von Willebrand Disease, or other bleeding disorders. Evidence of this diagnosis must be provided by your Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) or provided by your Hematology doctor.
2. Middle school from 6th to 8th and High School from 7th to 10th seeking education from any private school.
3. Have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and submit a report card or transcript (certified not required).
4. Complete Part 1 through 6 of the SandsRx Scholarship Application Form.
5. “My Develop Skills” Essay. Write an essay (500 words or less, type and single-spaced) on how the volunteer program in the bleeding disorder community helps to develop skills like being a good team player, managing time, and being a good leader.

Novo Nordisk offers students with hemophilia and rare bleeding disorders the opportunity to apply for competitive scholarships for tuition to college and vocational schools. Eligible students can follow their dreams with one of five $4,000 4-year college scholarships or ten $2,500 community or vocational scholarships. 

Eligibility:

• Have commercial insurance
• Be a US resident
• Have one of the following hemophilia or rare bleeding disorders: hemophilia A, hemophilia B, hemophilia A or B with inhibitors, congenital factor VII deficiency, congenital factor XIII deficiency subunit-A, acquired hemophilia, and Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia with a refractoriness to platelets 

Each year, the Kevin Child Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional student in memory of Kevin Child. As a child born with hemophilia in the late 1960s, Kevin had lived a life filled with challenges from the start. When he died of AIDS-related complications in 1989, he was just a few days short of his college graduation.  In honor of Kevin's legacy, the Child family hopes this scholarship program will provide some assistance for students striving to acquire a higher education. Eligibility

• must be individuals diagnosed with either hemophilia A or B
• a high school senior with aspirations of attending an institute of higher education (college, university or vocational-technical school), or a college student already pursuing a post-secondary education

For more than 20 years, Pfizer has provided educational support to students living with hemophilia. Named in honor of a pioneer in the field of hemophilia research, the Soozie Courter Hemophilia Scholarship Program is designed to inspire students living with hemophilia to achieve their educational goals. 

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants with hemophilia A or hemophilia B who present the best combination of a creative and persuasive essay, excellent recommendations, and superior academic standing. 

College and Vocational School Scholarships

• Awarded to 12 individuals in the amount of $2,500.00
• Have been diagnosed with hemophilia A or hemophilia B
• Reside in the continental United States
• Meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be a high school senior in a school in the United States 
  • Have completed high school or an equivalent (eg, general equivalency diploma [GED])
  • Be currently accepted to or enrolled in a junior college, college (undergraduate or graduate), or vocational school 

Graduate School Scholarship

• Awarded to 1 individual in the amount of $5,000.00
• Have been diagnosed with hemophilia A or hemophilia B
• Reside in the continental United States
• Be currently accepted to or enrolled in a junior college, college (undergraduate or graduate), or vocational school

The Nate Slack Scholarship award, presented by HF healthcare, wants to honor the memory and giving spirit of Nate Slack. Nate was very much about helping others and making this world a better place. His work with others in the bleeding disorder community was outstanding.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must have hemophilia A/B or von Willebrand, or a parent/guardian or sibling who is impacted
• Must be accepted to attend a two or four-year college or trade school
• Applicant must be a U.S. resident

The InfuCare Rx Scholarship Program has been helping people living with chronic and complex medical conditions pursue higher education through scholarship opportunities since 2015.

Eligibility:

• Applicants are not required to be patients of InfuCare Rx, but must have an eligible diagnosis (a family member of the person diagnosed is not eligible) and be a resident of the United States of America.
• All scholarship funds must be used for furthering the education of the recipients through a college, university, or vocational school within the United States of America.
• Applicants must already be accepted to a college, university, or vocational program for the 2024-25 school year. Finalists will be required to submit a recent transcript and will be interviewed by the scholarship committee.
• All students applying for any of our scholarships must have earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher in their previous year of study (unless you are in a doctoral program with Pass/Fail programs, in which case you will have the ability to indicate so on your submission).
• Prospective recipients must display professional conduct and must be willing to act as an ambassador of our scholarship program throughout the upcoming school year.
• Applicants must be willing to allow their submitted information to be made public in the event that they are selected.
   

Brandywine Valley Hemophilia Foundation (BVHF) is pleased to make available a $2000.00 scholarship to an individual impacted by hemophilia or other significant bleeding disorder. Once chosen as the recipient, the scholarship will be renewed each year for four years as long as the individual remains in good academic standing. A check will be made payable to the educational institution and mailed to the recipient each year following verification of continuing education and an adequate academic record. 

Eligibility

• Any individual diagnosed with hemophilia or other significant bleeding disorders. Evidence of this diagnosis must be provided by your clinician or HTC.
• Any individual whose immediate family member is attached to the hemophilia/bleeding disorder community. Evidence of this must be provided by your clinician or HTC.
   

This scholarship program is funded and administered by the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina. Applicants are not required to be—nor is any preference given to—residents of North Carolina. 

Eligibility

• Intended for persons diagnosed with severe hemophilia A.
• The applicant must be seeking education from an accredited college, university, or certified training program based in the United States.

Special Note: All applicants for this scholarship will also be considered for the Optum Infusion Pharmacy / Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina Scholarship. It is not necessary to apply separately to both scholarship programs.

This scholarship program is funded by Optum Infusion Pharmacy and administered by the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina. Applicants are not required to be—nor is any preference given to—residents of North Carolina. 

Eligibility:

• Intended for persons affected by a bleeding disorder*, including anyone who has been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder; or is a caregiver of a child or adult affected by a bleeding disorder; or has a sibling or parent in the same household affected by a bleeding disorder.
• The applicant must be seeking education from an accredited college, university, or certified training program based in the United States.

*For the purpose of this scholarship application, the term “bleeding disorder” is limited to clotting factor deficiency disorders, specifically: hemophilia A (factor VIII), B (factor IX), and C (factor XI), von Willebrand Disease, factor V/parahemophilia**, factor VII, factor X, and factor XIII deficiencies. (**Factor V Leiden is a clotting disorder and is not eligible). Exceptions for bleeding disorders that result from other rare diseases may be considered by the scholarship committee on a case-by-case basis.

This scholarship was formed to provide awareness of chronic disorders to the public and to stimulate, foster, and encourage interest, awareness, and activism at the state and national level with reference to the fight against chronic disorders.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or other chronic disorder.
• Applicants MUST be Graduating from High School in the year of the Scholarship Award.
• Applicants must have applied to, been accepted at, an accredited college or university.

Brothers Healthcare is committed to supporting members of the bleeding disorders community in their goals for higher education. For that reason, we offer a scholarship program of $2,000 per year to be awarded as two $1,000 scholarships to people affected by an inherited bleeding disorder like hemophilia or Von Willebrand disease. The awards committee oversees the scholarship program. The award selection is based on a number of criteria including but not limited to academic merit, narrative, reference letters, and impact on the bleeding disorder community. 

Eligibility

• Attend an accredited technical school, college, or university in the Fall of 2024
• Have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, OR be a parent, spouse, partner, child, or sibling of a person with a bleeding disorder.
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale and submit a report card or transcript (certified not required),

At Medexus Pharma, the goal is to help people with hemophilia B by providing high-quality, specialized therapies, connecting with people to learn about their needs, and developing empowering programs that enrich peoples’ lives. This program just for people with hemophilia B helps deliver a brighter future. 

Eligibility

• Be diagnosed with hemophilia B.
• Be a US citizen or legal US resident.
• Be entering or attending an accredited secondary education institution in the United States. Students who are pursuing or resuming a degree later in adulthood may apply even if there was a gap in their academic career.

The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases has established the #RAREis Scholarship Fund to help adults with rare diseases in a variety of educational pursuits, regardless of treatment status. Thanks to the support of Amgen, one-time awards of $5,000 each will be granted up to 88 recipients for the Fall 2024 semester.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. 

Applicants to the #RAREis Scholarship Fund must be:

• U.S. residents who have been diagnosed* by a physician as having any form of rare disease regardless of treatment status. Applicants will be asked to provide a Diagnosis Verification Form provided by a physician verifying diagnosis.
• Currently enrolled or planning to enroll full-time or part-time** in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical/trade school for the Fall 2024 semester.
• 17 years old or older (no upper age limit, veterans and non-traditional students are encouraged.)

*Undiagnosed applicants may apply with completed Diagnosis Verification Form by a physician.
**There is no minimum amount of credit hours to be part-time (example, one class is considered part time).
