NHF is pleased to announce that two of its educational videos won silver awards in the 23rd Annual National Health Information Awards Program. The awards program is hosted by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. Entries are submittted by a variety of prestigious consumer health organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the Hospital for Special Surgery, the Mayo Clinic and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The "Bleeding Disorders in the Workplace" video took silver in the Other/Miscellaneous Health Information class. "Making Your Clotting Factor Work for You: Understanding Half-life in Your Life" garnered a silver award in the Patient Education Information class. Both are part of NHF's Steps for Living website, which houses educational materials for individuals and families coping with bleeding disorders at all life stages.

The entries for the 2016 health awards were judged by an expert panel, which rated them on a scale of 1-100, based on content and design/creativity. In a news release announcing the winners, Patricia Henze, HIRC Executive Director, stated that the awards set industry standards for quality when it comes to the best consumer health information resources available.

"NHF is thrilled to have won two silver awards for our Steps for Living videos," said Kate Nammacher, MPH, NHF Director of Education. "We continue to create these videos to meet the needs of our community for high-quality educational materials that engage and inform."

NHF thanks Switch Video for its collaboration on the Workplace video. Support for it came from Pfizer Hemophilia. NHF also thanks AXON Communications for its collaboration on the Half-life video. It was developed through a Cooperative Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and supported in part by a charitable contribution from Baxalta, now part of Shire.
