About the Role

NHF Is now looking for Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant ensures compliance to GAAP, the integrity of financial information and systems by performing various accounting functions, including the month-end financial close and reporting. The Senior Accountant also works independently and with the Associate Controller to prepare various analyses and presentations concerning financial and operational aspects of NHF. The position is responsible for but not limited to perform general accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to recording, reconciling, and reporting of AP, AR, payroll, accrued and prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations.  The position will also collaborate with other Finance staff to produce monthly and quarterly financial reports used by NHF’s leadership team and Board of Directors.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting degree; Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Attention to details and accuracy, planning and organizing, information and task monitoring, problem analysis.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks and meets deadlines.  
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty. Ability to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work products.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have advanced Excel skills and knowledge of computerized accounting software.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Where You Will Work:

This position is currently based in the NYC. While that is still preferred, NHF is open to strong candidates who can demonstrate experience working effectively in a remote environment. Candidate will be expected to travel to events and meetings as requested by the Controller.

Compensation:

In addition to the above benefits, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices and base compensation on experience, education, revenue size and location-based cost of living calculations. For this position, NHF has set a salary range $58,500-$70,500 ($68,800-$81,100 for a candidate in NYC) with some flexibility depending on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, education and training.
