In April 2016, Mady J. Schuman joined the NHF as Vice President of Development to enhance and execute a long-term strategic fund raising plan and engage a new coterie of philanthropists in the NHF’s mission.
Mady provides more than thirty years of executive external relations and development experience, garnered at the most respected healthcare, educational, social service and cultural institutions.
Mady is a seasoned, multi-faceted non- profit executive with extensive fund raising experience in capital campaigns, major gifts, grantsmanship, and planned giving.
She brings an impressive history and commitment to the nonprofit social service and healthcare arena from tenures at the American Cancer Society, Endometriosis Foundation of America, Planned Parenthood of NYC, God’s Love We Deliver, The Home & Hospital LifeCare System and Lighthouse International, and most recently as Chief of Philanthropy of the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America. She has held executive-level external relations positions at the 92 nd Street Y and NYU/Stern School of Business, as well.
Mady Schuman holds a B.A. from Wheaton College (Norton, MA) and earned an M.A. and ABD from New York University in Theatre History. A native New Yorker, she lived in London for eight years and has traveled extensively. An active volunteer, Mady was one of four founding Board members of Miracle House, an organization that provided housing and support services to patients and caregivers of people with serious illnesses. She provides ongoing pro bono fund raising and management assistance to a number of non-profits in New York and on the East End of Long Island.
