Mayra trabaja como evaluadora de estudiantes y analista de datos. Mayra es portadora de hemofilia A y madre de tres hemofílicos. Decidió convertirse en Guía Cultural porque vio una necesidad en la comunidad hispana y sintió que necesitaban a alguien que pueda hablar español, estar disponible para ellos en los eventos. Según Mayra, es importante unificar nuestra comunidad y fortalecerla mediante la colaboración conjunta y no hacer que otros sientan que no cuentan debido a la barrera del idioma. La parte más gratificante de ser una Guía Cultural ha sido todo; ha conocido a gente maravillosa, cada entrenamiento que ha tenido ha sido de gran beneficio.
¡El mayor desafío para Mayra ha sido la depresión! Debido a que fue difícil aceptar el diagnóstico y la comprensión, el bebé no tiene que estar en una burbuja y puede llevar una vida normal. Mayra se educó a sí misma y fue muy abierta con su médico acerca de sus sentimientos y mis síntomas, y recibió apoyo de mis amigos, familiares y reuniones de capítulos. Su palabra favorita es "Inspirar". Mayra no puede vivir sin su familia y sus hijos son su mayor inspiración. Si alguien escribiera un libro sobre ella, el título sería "¡Mayra cantando a través de la vida!".
Mayra works as a Student Assessment and Data Analyst. Mayra is a Hemophilia A carrier and mom of three Hemophiliacs. She decided to become a Guía Cultural because she saw a need in the Hispanic community and felt they needed someone that can speak Spanish, be available to them at events. According to Mayra, it's important to unify our community and strengthen it by collaborating together and not making others feel they don't count due to a language barrier. The most rewarding part of being a Guía Cultural has been everything; she has met wonderful people, every training that she’s had has been of great benefit.
The biggest challenge for Mayra has been depression! because it was hard to accept the diagnosis and understanding the baby does not have to be in a bubble and can lead a normal life. Mayra educated herself and was very open with her doctor about her feelings and my symptoms, and got support from my friends, family, and chapter meetings. Her favorite word is “Inspire”. Mayra can’t live without her family and her children are her biggest inspiration. If someone wrote a book about her the title would be “Mayra singing through Life!”.
