2020 NYC Half Marathon Cancelled
The 2020 United Airlines Half Marathon has been cancelled due to concerns over transmission of COVID-19. The NY Road Runners Association, which organizes the yearly event, issued this statement.
“At New York Road Runners, the welfare of our running community is always our top priority. Due to the rapidly developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the NYC Half, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, and the accompanying Rising New York Road Runners youth event, have been cancelled. We appreciate the support of New York City officials through this complicated decision-making process.”
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the 10 runners who trained and raised nearly $13,000 on behalf of NHF and the bleeding disorders community,” said Len Valentino, president and CEO of NHF. “While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to cheer for our Red Tie Runners from the sidelines, we agree that the health and wellbeing of the runners and the public should be the top priority for the city of New York.”
NHF sincerely thanks our runners, their family and friends, and the many donors who have supported the community through this prestigious event. We look forward to welcoming the Red Tie Runners to NYC for a future race.
